We are happy to see and hear that everyone has been enjoying the use of the WineStations.
We placed these in the clubhouse for moments where we are unable to serve you upstairs in the Lounge. |
|
---|
If you have yet to acquire a wine card or need to reload a wine card, you may request to do so through our accounting department by emailing Melissa Fiddler at mfiddler@kempersports.com.
The wine cards may be loaded in increments of $100 so feel free to request one so you can access the WineStations at any time.

This has been a transition for us all but it has been implemented to help expedite the process of ordering food, improve your experience, and keep our doors open with the limited staff we have available.

| | GOLF NEWS | Hello members, we hope you’re well and enjoying the start of 2023! We’ve certainly had our share of rain in January, but has been much needed. The end of January provided some gorgeous weather and even more memorable sunsets!
Below are some important announcements regarding our daily operations for February!
EZ-GO ELITE GOLF CAR FLEET: We’re very excited to have received our golf car fleet in December, 2022! Special thanks to our Maintenance Manager Brett Fox and his dedicated team for all the hard work required to run the new electrical lines and help set up the new charging stations for our electric fleet!
We’ve since received some great feedback from members and guests-alike, as follows:
- Quiet, eco-friendly golf cars
- Powerful
- Comfortable bench seats
- Accurate GPS
- Responsive handling
- Attractive navy-blue finish
| | We’re also please to utilize PACE geo-fencing technology which helps us track and monitor golf cars and pace of play. This is continually monitored and updated daily, depending on course conditions.
If a golf car enters an area that is restricted, it will alert the driver with an audible tone, and direct them backwards until they are within the allowable areas. If the driver ignores the alert and persists, the golf car will not move forward. This will help preserve course conditions.
See below for a screenshot of our PACE display at our golf shop!
| |
We are pleased to have started work on our golf car storage structure. Below is a progress photo of the new fence line where we’ll park, charge and store our new electric golf cars. This is a closeup image of the fence along the north end of our parking lot. Continued thanks to Maintenance Manager Brett Fox and staff!
| | GOLF COURSE AERATION
Weather-permitting, we plan to aerate the greens with the smaller ¼” tines on Monday, March 20th & Tuesday, March 21st. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, our alternate dates will be April 10th & 11th.
During aeration, members can play the same 9-hole twice, but be sure to let the golf shop staff know when booking so we can reserve a turn-time on the same 9 holes approx. 2 hrs. and 20 minutes after you start. This will only apply to 3/20 & 3/21, and you’ll be able to play a continuous 18 holes beginning March 22nd! The greens will take approximately 10-14 days to heal and return to normal with the cooperation of the weather.

The awards presented were for Stableford, Mixers and NCGA Qualifiers during calendar year 2022.
Specials thanks to Bob Caldwell, Director of Golf, Jonathan Ivory, Course Superintendent, Terry Dale, Men’s GC President and their board for a great season and coordinating this special event!

Whether you’re brand new to golf, returning, or need help with a certain area of your game, stop by to ask about our lesson options. We offer individual lesson, series or clinics. We look forward to helping you with your game!

| | LITERATURE GROUP |
|
---|
| At our next meeting, on Monday, February 6th, Suzanne Martin will lead our discussion of Matt Haig’s The Midnight Library.
Between life and death there is a library, and within that library, the shelves go on forever. Every book provides a chance to try another life you could have lived. To see how things would be if you had made other choices... Would you have done anything different, if you had the chance to undo your regrets?
In The Midnight Library, Matt Haig's enchanting new novel, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision. Faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one, following a different career, undoing old breakups, realizing her dreams of becoming a glaciologist;—
|
|
---|
—she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.
"Haig's latest is a stunning contemporary story that explores the choices that make up a life, and the regrets that can stifle it. A compelling novel that will resonate with readers." Booklist |

| Next Month: On March 6th, Maurine Harkness will lead our discussion of Fredrik Backman’s Anxious People.
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Man Called Ove comes a charming, poignant novel about a crime that never took place, a would-be bank robber who disappears into thin air, and eight extremely anxious strangers who find they have more in common than they ever imagined.
Looking at real estate isn't usually a life-or-death situation, but an apartment open house becomes just that when a failed bank robber bursts in and takes a group of strangers hostage. The captives include a recently retired couple who relentlessly hunt down fixer-uppers to avoid the painful truth that they can't fix their own marriage. |
|
---|
There's a wealthy bank director who has been too busy to care about anyone else and a young couple who are about to have their first child but can't seem to agree on anything, from where they want to live to how they met in the first place. Add to the mix an eighty-seven-year-old woman who has lived long enough not to be afraid of someone waving a gun in her face, a flustered but still-ready-to-make-a-deal real estate agent, and a mystery man who has locked himself in the apartment's only bathroom, and you've got the worst group of hostages in the world.
Rich with Fredrik Backman's "pitch-perfect dialogue and an unparalleled understanding of human nature" (Shelf Awareness), Anxious People is an ingeniously constructed story about the enduring power of friendship, forgiveness, and hope--the things that save us, even in the most anxious times.
| The Literature Group meetings are held the first Monday of each month. (If the date has a holiday conflict, the meetings are typically moved to the following Monday.)
The February and March meetings will be held in the dining room at our Clubhouse. Maurine will send out notification if the meetings have been rescheduled to ZOOM.
If you have any questions about the Literature Group, please contact Maurine Harkness (harkfam5@att.net). Come join us!

| | VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES | HELP KEEP BODEGA BAY LOOKING GREAT! | A small and dedicated group of folk have regularly cleaned up the stretch of Hwy 1 south-east of old town for many years.
You may have seen the "Adopt A Highway" signs showing "Bodega Harbour Sea Gals" as responsible for a 2-mile stretch of the highway.
We now need a few more folk for this important work. The work is cleaning up a small part of the 2 mile stretch, typically takes about an hour and a half for a 2-person team. and happens at most 6 times a year.
Of course not everyone can be available on any given date, so it is not expected that every volunteer will be available for each event.
Cleanups are done on a quiet weekday when traffic is light. All equipment is supplied by Caltrans. Safety is the highest priority.
No need at all to be a Sea Gals member. The cleanup group has evolved to be independent of the Sea Gals group.
Doing the cleanup can be a fun outing, and it gives you a new perspective on Bodega Bay. Passing folk generally appreciate that this work is being done.
If you have any questions or would like to join this community-minded group contact:

| | | DESIGN REVIEW | PROJECT REVIEW & SECURITY DEPOSIT REIMBURSEMENT REMINDER
Once your design project is approved and completed, please contact Mary Angelo in the administration office to request an inspection.
Once the inspection has been completed and passed, a request will be submitted to Accounting for the security deposit reimbursement.
If you have any questions or need more assistance with this process reach our to Mary Angelo in the Administration office at mangelo@kempersports.com or (707) 875-3519 ext. 210. | | | | LANDSCAPE REVIEW | HELPFUL HINTS & THE LANGUAGE OF ROSES | | | As we enter February in our Coastal Community, our gardens are enjoying some sunny days. If you’re new to the Coast, this past rainy period combined with heavy winds, tested our gardens. We haven’t had such a wet & windy period for several years. We have come out the other side, and the buds are appearing, the birds are once again singing, and we look forward to Valentine’s Day!
Just some quick reminders:
1. Trees, shrubs, & plants must be trimmed that no portion grows over lot lines, over sidewalks, or where sidewalks do not exist, over the edge of the curb into the street. Just make sure you’re trimming your garden, so our neighbors can walk safely.
2. It’s best to trim your trees & bushes semi-annually or annually depending on the growth. Winter is here, and now is the time to trim, during dormancy. Don’t wait for a neighbor to complain that your trees & bushes are blocking their views. In those instances, you’ll then need to trim cutting off new growth, possibly when spring birds have built their nests.
While creating defensible space, be sure to remove branches 6 feet from the ground.
3. Never too late to mulch & cover irrigation systems. Mulch helps to regulate the temperature of the soil, gives a boost of nitrogen and holds moisture. Mulch should not be more than approximately 3 inches deep.
4. When submitting new plans for your garden, be sure to submit samples of mulch, stone gravel. This will save you time! Our goal is to have the landscaping blend.
As Valentines Day nears, let’s look at some meaning of a few of the many choices of Roses.
A Single Red Rose signifies love and undying loyalty. The rose has always carried a deep symbolic meaning and has been a favorite of many women and men for years. Rose colors carry different meanings for different people; however, the red rose always means the same thing to its recipients.
A Red Rose means "I love you", but a yellow rose stands for friendship. A white rose symbolizes purity, while the rosebud suggests young and innocent love.
The Orange Rose has a special significance. As they are a combination of red roses, which symbolize passion and love, and yellow roses, which symbolize friendship, orange roses have a meaning that combines the two. The meaning of orange roses is desire and romantic interest.
The Purple Rose is a symbol of elegance, sophistication, rarity, respect and deep affection. Roses with lighter shade of purple are more associated with feelings of peace, tranquility, love at first sight, and spirituality. Darker shades of purple roses often represent royalty, nobility, mystery, success, and eternal love. | | | | For anyone with a garden maintenance or view obstruction complaint, please complete a “Community Complaint Form” provided by the HOA, which describes your contact information and describes the parcel/address of whom you have an issue. The landscaping committee will come out and take photos.
The HOA will send out a letter of the findings of the landscape committee. These are recommendations. If you receive a letter that you do not agree with the findings, you can request to be on the Agenda of the Board of Directors meetings for the Bodega Harbour HOA held monthly.
Helpful Hint: if you’ve received a letter from the HOA for view obstruction or garden maintenance, and you’ve trimmed your tree, or removed dead and dying plants. As a courtesy please call Mary Angelo in the Bodega Harbour Office at 707-377-4603 or email Mary at mangelo@kempersports.com.
We do our best to keep an eye on the parcels, to remove them from current view obstructions or garden maintenance list. Your phone call or email will be appreciated! Just one more way that we can all communicate with each other.
| | Enjoy your garden, and let us know if you would like to be on the Landscaping Committee. Please reach out to Mary Angelo in the office either by phone or email. We would love to have you.
We meet the second Monday of the month @ 10 a.m. either by zoom or in person, varies month to month.
Happy Valentines Day!

| Do you want to save paper? Time? Money? Sign up for statements to be sent to you by e-mail only. Every month statements are printed for those with a balance due, and every quarter they are printed for many members as a reminder that it's time for quarterly dues payments again. This results in a lot of printing, paper, envelopes, and postage. If you would like to receive your statement by e-mail only, and forego the paper copy, please e-mail bhhoa.acctg@kempersports.com with your name, parcel or member number, and the email address you'd like to use for receiving statements.

We will hold these items until February 17th, 2023. After that they will be donated.
